... or multiple monkeys?
We’ve gradually been replacing the outlets and switches throughout our house. Some have obviously been replaced at some point, but others look like they haven’t seen the light of day since 1922. There were some serious fire hazards in there! I’ve never seen wiring like this before; one of our roommate’s dad is an electrician and he said it was literal chaos within the walls.
Thankfully there isn’t too much that is still stuck in 1922. Mostly everything in the renovated part of the house is up to code and up to date as far as we can tell... it’s the historic part that concerns. Obviously there wouldn’t be anything hazardous, it’s all just slightly sketchy.
On the suuuuper old switches and outlets, like the one in the picture, the wires were so old they had turned black and nasty.
